As the title says, Earning an income online today is really EASY and really HARD!
Why is it Easy? There is a lot of available training today with great coaches.
It’s also very Hard….WHY?
Running a business, any business requires WORK! It’s no different if you have a store front or a home business…both require work.
The best part, if you have set-up your business and worked hard for several years, the business will provide you an income for the rest of your life.
There is one important factor to consider. The store requires you to operate the store every day, 365 days or there about. The store may require employees.
The store has overhead expenses such as rent, utilities, insurance, inventory and other business related expenses. If it’s a franchise, you have monthly royalties to consider.
Your online business also require a lot of Work in the beginning. However, it’s different in many ways.
Yes, operating a business is both Easy and Hard.
There are many different ways to make money online but they’re far from equal.
A lot of people fall into the trap of just looking at the dollar number = Income.
For example, you see a business model that pays potentially $10,000/month and the other one pays $5,000/month. You think the model that pays $10,000/month is automatically better.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Revenue is just one of many metrics of the business that you should consider when deciding your future career path.
Reread the introduction again, with the variables.
If you also look at these other variables, you are like a wise person who built his house on rock rather than on sand.
You may see Internet marketers touting that they’re making X amount of dollars in a few days. Their ad may say, “I just earned $13,00 in 3 days! All you do is Copy my business model!” Then they sell you a course for $997.
Making $13,000 in 3 days sounds wonderful, (it’s first unrealistic if your new)… But what if he/she spent $15,000 on advertising?
Now it starts to look a little bit different…
In this case, the ad should say, “See how I spent hours setting up my business, marketing my business, doing Facebook ads and Youtube ads just to lose $2,000!”
But of course, they will never tell you this if they’re trying to sell you an expensive course and earn their money back.
Of course, that’s just an extreme example but let’s have a look at a few real examples.
Let’s say that 3 people make $5,000/month. But in reality their income are vastly different. Which one of these 3 people in this example is earning the most Money?
In fact, his income is AT LEAST 5 times bigger than the eCommerce store owner. In fact, if that eCommerce person would like to get to the same level, he/she would need to make $25,000/month.
Remember this next time when you see some eCommerce person trying to brag with big numbers and sell his/her overpriced course! (Many of them make the majority of their income from those courses rather than eCommerce sales!)
Active income means that you earn money only when you work. When you stop working, your income stops coming in.
Passive income means that you earn that money even while you are not actively working anymore. If you stop working, you will make money for months, years or even decades to come!
Think of an author or a popular singer. They write a book once or the singer records the song once, however they continue to receive an income each time the book is purchased or the song is purchased. That’s passive income.
When you consider starting a new money-making strategy, ask this question: “Is that passive income or active income?”
Let’s take practical examples again:
Which one would YOU take?
I would take the affiliate website and make $5,000 every month!
For several reasons.
Let’s say that you (an Affiliate Marketer) and the coach decide to stop working for any reason. Maybe you want to spend more time with the family or you can’t work because of an illness.
OR…you decide to take a year and travel!
The income of the coach drops immediately from $10,000/month to $0/month. That’s a loss of $120,000 dollars.
However, your affiliate website’s income will probably remain the same at $5,000/month for many months until it slowly starts going downwards. Chances are that it will make you money every single month for more than a decade when it is properly set-up.
With affiliate marketing, you’ll make money even while you are not working it.
When you compare different business models, you’ll recognize that the amount of work is completely different. Again, that $5,000/month is superior compared to $5,000/month from other business models.
As an affiliate marketer, your task is to get a prospect or customer to click your affiliate link. That’s the activity that will pay you money.
If you have a website, blog or a YouTube channel where you have uploaded content, it will make you money on autopilot even though you might be on vacation.
Carefully look at the business model. Is it a franchise, eCommerce, affiliate marketing, MLM, home based or network marketing?
Each of these are much different than the other. There is no Right or Wrong, it depends on what your looking for.
If you have a drop shipping business, you may need to handle customer support and other related issues.
The point here is, don’t look at income statements as your sole deciding factor.
The purpose of any business is to provide value to the marketplace but that value can mean so many different things.
People value things differently. For example, many people would argue that tobacco products don’t bring any value to the marketplace. They only make people’s health worse.
That’s is an extreme example but the same phenomenon happens in many different forms. For example, there are a lot of online scammers who make their income deceitfully. They promise you a “Make-Money-Offer” or “The-Secret-To Make-Money-Online” or “I-Discovered-The-Formula-To-Making-Money.”
They sell you on the idea skillfully, but deliver you almost nothing. In fact, many sell you their formula for a price and then hit you up for additional money.
Making $1,000/month honestly is in my opinion better than making $10,000/month deceitfully.
Another example, let’s say that someone is a social butterfly and loves interacting with people while another person prefers to spend most of his/her time without interacting with anyone. These people will probably want to have different kinds of career paths.
With affiliate marketing, you have FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
I know affiliate marketers that make big money online but nobody knows their names. You can build a website, blog or any social media and you never need to show your face or name and you never need to talk to anyone if you don’t want to.
Alternatively you can become an influencer that everyone knows.
Or choose something between those two extremes.
With many other professions you don’t have such freedom of choice.
Which one would you take?
— $5,000/month from a 9-5 job where you are stuck in one location with no guarantee of employment OR $5,000/month online, with a home-based business where you can live anywhere in the world?
— Own a store which requires you to be at the store everyday or having to trust an employee?
— Own a franchise with royalty payments?
— Network marketing or MLM that requires a team of people and a lot of NO’s to joining your business. And a product determined by the company?
— An affiliate marketing business where you work at your own schedule, no employees, no inventory, no overhead, passive income, no quota, choose your own product line, low start-up cost, work anywhere in the world, low stress and a good income once established?
You have choices. Look at yourself. What do you want? What is your Desires? What do you want to accomplish? Are you willing to put forth the effort?
Any business you choose is your decision….look carefully and long before you decide. Do not spend any money until you look at your options and then…only then make the commitment to WORK.
Here is a recap as the reasons why I chose Affiliate Marketing!
Again, my reasons:
The next time someone tells you that you will earn “x amount of dollars per month” in a job or with a business ask him/her “Will it give me all the benefits of affiliate marketing?”
