Thinking about affiliate marketing?

Let’s begin by saying, “This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Google has seen to this over the years. They no longer let people create and promote “churn and burn” websites to make a quick buck.”

With that being said, what do you know about Affiliate Marketing?  If we break it down into the simplest terms, there are two types of Affiliate Programs.

• Program 1, Is where you represent a company product.  By promoting that product the company sends you a commission.  Typically there is no cost to sign up as an affiliate.
• Program 2, Is where you represent a company product.  By promoting that product the company sends you a commission.  Typically there is a Membership cost and/or monthly fee.

Notice that both programs are similar but slightly different.

Program 1 is no cost and you offer their product, ie:  clothing, sporting goods, furniture, coffee, tea, and hundreds of other products.  In Program 2, you sign up as paid affiliate with a Membership cost.  These companies typically offer products, training, coaching and other benefits.

Both are straightforward business models, however Program 2 is typically a little more complex.  The target audience is different.

Program 1, your audience is identified by the product you are promoting such as ladies shoes.  Program 2 audience is typically someone who is search for help.  In this case you target anyone who is in need of advice such as “How To Market On The Internet.”  Or coaching on “How To Become An Affiliate Marketer.”

Most people in Program 2 sell to a large diverse audience, while in Program 2, the audience is well defined.

Can both programs be combined?  Of Course.

Someone wants to be an affiliate for baseball uniforms but has no knowledge on how to do that.  In this case, they find an affiliate company that offers help so that they can acquire that knowledge.  They go through the training and learn how to become an affiliate.  With that knowledge, they sign up with a company that offers baseball uniforms.

Affiliate marketing sounds easy and it really is, however there are many “ins and outs” that needs to be understood.

You must think about the product you are selling and the target audience you hope to attract. You also need knowledge and a good marketing strategy.

Amazing potential for big returns.  Over time, you can and will establish the trust of your audience.   By gaining their trust the more likely they will be willing to click on your links and purchase your affiliate products.  Also, the more trust you have, the more people will start to find you and share your content, which inherently means that you will have more people click on your links.

Reason 4 ….. Passive

Passive income.  Typically Program 2 will provide a passive income.  This might take some time in the beginning to setup.  Make sure you have the links right, but after that, it becomes passive income.  As an example, someone signs-up in a Membership Affiliate Company per your recommendation.  You receive a commission on the sign-up but also receive a passive monthly income.

Reason 3 ….. Product

Several big companies offer affiliate agreements. This can be great news for you… because no matter what you find yourself trying to market or sell or simply tell others about… there is probably an affiliate program for that.

Reason 2 ….. Income

Supplement your current income. Unless you really hate your job – I think this would be a great way to keep your day job and use this affiliate marketing as a way to make even more money!  The advantage here is you can decide if your making enough money to quit your job or not.  Either why you can have an income source.

Reason 1 ….. People

Make money selling the products that made a difference for you. When you recommend a product, it’s not going to be because you want to have one more link on your site, but because you know from experience that the product you’re recommending is going make a difference for the person who buys it.

A good affiliate marketing tip is locating an Affiliate Company that is always producing high quality coaching and training.  A company that regularly introduces various products who is reliable and well-established.  New products from a reliable company will increases your chances of getting repeat customers and steady commissions. Stay away from products that are the current rage, fad, or fashion. These products tend to have a short-lived period of successful profit.

Affiliate Companies

There are hundreds or thousands of companies that offer affiliate program.  Determine what you like or a product you want to offer and there is a company you can work with.  If your interest is in the Program 2 type of affiliate marketing, the list is smaller but more defined.

You should only work with affiliate companies that offer good commissions and good products.  In Program 1, the commission will normally be 5-10%.  You may find a company that offer more.  With Program 2, the commission is much higher.  Avoid doing business with companies that do not offer at least twenty percent commission for each product sold.  Many of these companies offer even higher commission such as 50 to 100%.

If you can find an Affiliate Company that offers good products, residual income and 100% commission, take a close look.  This is the type of company you want to join?  Don’t make your decision based solely upon commission percentage.  Look into the company.  Not all affiliate marketing companies are the same.  In fact there are some sleazy and high pressure companies you don’t want to get involved with.
