In this article, I will discuss why Internet Marketing is a Plan and Success comes with a plan. Without a Plan you will be going NOWHERE.
Is a Plan and a Goal the same thing? NO!
A plan is a define Roadmap on how to go from a beginning to a desired ending.
Example: Your plan is to take a two week vacation to Florida and two days at Disneyland. Your starting point is Chicago. Your plan is to take I-55 to Memphis, then diverting into some small towns in Mississippi on US 51 or driving along the river through Natchez and New Orleans. Stay in New Orleans and do some site seeing. Next US 90 and I-10 along the Gulf Coast past Biloxi and Mobile into Florida.
That’s your Plan. Your Goal is Disneyland.
To succeed at Internet Marketing you need a PLAN with a DESIRED GOAL
Your goal is create a Part-Time income of $1,000 per month.
This $1,000 maybe to catch-up with some bills. It could be adding income to take a vacation to Disneyland. Or a college fund for the kids. How about paying off the house payment earlier or purchase that new car you’ve wanted.
With a Goal you now have the beginning of a Plan.
Remember a Plan is the Roadmap to get to your Goal. Don’t Over Complicate Your Plan.
If you want to succeed at Internet marketing, then you need a plan, a DMP or Daily Marketing Plan. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated. Just create a plan of tasks you want to do each day to market your business.
You may want to choose to do different tasks on different days, or you may do the same tasks each day. Whatever you decide, organize your plan and stick to it because a good plan will get you the momentum you need to automate much of your marketing.
As I said, the plan does not need to be complicated. Create a plan and work the plan. If you find that it needs to altered…do so. Remember, it’s your Plan!
In my Plan I:
We start with saying: “Internet Marketing is a plan and Success comes with a plan”
These 6 ideas is what I have created for my business. I try to complete these tasks each day. If I don’t complete each one every day, no problem…I have tomorrow. However, by the end of the week everything in the DMP has been done. I rest easy on the weekend knowing I completed what I set out to do.
TIP:
Make sure you set aside a specific amount of time to complete each task. Otherwise, there won’t be enough hours in the day to get these things done.
For instance, I use a “timer.” If I’m writing a blog, I will set the timer for 30 minutes. If the blog is not completed, I simply set back for a while or take a walk. I do this for 15 minutes. I then go back to my article with the timer set for another 30 minutes.
I can normally produce a blog article in 90 minutes. If you are working part-time you may have to adjust the timer to fit your schedule.
The timer really helps me get the most from my marketing and gets my daily tasks completed.
I’m going to make an assumption that you have a Blog or website. Also you have a Google account so you can set up Google Search Console and Google Analytic. With these two resources you can get valuable information on how your site is doing as well as click, keywords, Google ranking and more information.
I’m also going to make the assumption you have a Facebook, Twitter and YouTube account.
If you don’t have these assumptions, your Plan is to set them up. It’s actually quite easy and a necessary Tool for your business.
Google Search Console may sound complicated.…but once you have done it, you will find that it really was easy. Just follow the steps in Setting Up Google Search Console.
Success at Internet Marketing is no accident. It is a Strategic Plan.
Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” James Hope put it a different way, “If we fail to prepare we prepare to fail.
Let’s set you up with a Plan…okay?
With that being said, let’s look at your DMP or Daily Marketing Plan:
For best SEO results, plan on writing one quality article every week to begin with.
Once you become comfortable with writing, produce an article every other day. If you find that too difficult, go back to producing one quality article per week. If you want to create long term traffic that will come to your blog site for years to come, nothing is better than writing quality articles. Again, if three per week is too difficult, produce one high quality article.
I try to keep my article around 1,500 to 2,500 words. Depending upon the subject matter this will vary. The idea is to write an article.
Articles will help you brand your yourself, it can brand your business, it can build backlinks, help with Search Engine Optimization SEO, and provide value to your products and services.
Submit your articles to the top article directories, as well as smaller directories in order to build your link campaign. Also consider publications in your industry or nitch.
Facebook is an excellent social site to post your articles. Boost your article if you have the resources to do so. If not that’s okay. Just keep posting articles.
Other available social sites are: Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Linkedin…..
Video is now one of the most popular ways to market your business online and with good reason.
YouTube is the second most popular website on the Internet, and it gets tons of traffic. Create video tutorials, product reviews, helpful tips, marketing ideas, “just for fun” video’s and anything else that will help others connect with your business.
Comment on other videos, as well as use your videos for replies, and don’t forget to post your videos on your blog.
At this point, I normally get, “I not comfortable in front of the camera!”
Here’s an idea: grab your mobile phone…got it? Go to Camera and record a short one minute of yourself. Then review it. Don’t like it, delete. Record another one minute video of yourself. Review. Don’t like it, delete and do it again and again and again, until you feel more comfortable.
I did this for a week before it became somewhat comfortable.
The more you do it, the more comfortable you will become. Remember just talk about you or talk about trees…or your favorite car….or your favorite holiday….or your favorite travel spot. Get the idea? Talk about anything…you can alway delete the video.
I do have another resource for anyone who really does not want to be on camera. This is my number one recommendation for making professional videos in a matter of minutes with very little training or technical skills.
I have personally created 20 videos in 2 months without ever facing the camera. It’s called Vidnami. Very easy, very professional and they have excellent training. Highly recommend.
This goes along with Number 1, Write One Article Every Week. Blogging is both a long term and short term strategy that allows you to connect with your targeted audience. It’s also a great way to build a blog with repeat customers or visitors.
You diffidently need a blog. Here’s 10 reasons why you should start blogging.
TIP:
You don’t have to do this: However, I write my article in Word. In fact I may write 2-3 articles in Word in various stages of competition.
When I complete an article I will then paste it into my WordPress blog. There, I will add images, tags, H1, H2, H3 headings and a compelling blog Title.
Choose a Featured Image that complements your article. What I mean is, your article maybe “How To Build A Bird House” but your Features Image is “Computer.” It does not match your article. A picture of a Bird and/or a Bird in a Bird House will add to your article.
A great place to get Free Images is….Pixabay
As you work on your blog…always…always…always “Save Draft.” I can’t tell you how many time I didn’t and lost an article or corrections. Always “Save Draft” while you are writing.
If you want others to Read Your Blog, read others blogs.
Write insightful comments. It really doesn’t take that long, just four or five comments. Over time this will really build up a ton of links pointing back to your site.
The most important benefit is that other blog readers will read your comments, and the site owner will probably pay you a visit and comment on your blog.
Sites like Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube and Linkedin can really drive a lot of traffic to your blog because they are some of the top sites in the social media world.
This is the place to meet and greet others in your industry, as well as connect with customers.
Seek out other sites, especially those in your industry. Find four or five industry related sites and get involved.
Post to Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Twitter and Linkedin regularly. Make sure you complete your profiles for all these sites because you want to let others know what your business is all about.
In a busy world, it is so easy to become distracted. It is easy to lose focus. It’s easy to put the DMP aside and say “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
“Procrastination is the thief of time.” Edward Young
Remember your DMP is your Plan. Loose focus and you will end up somewhere else.
Go back to our vacation: Loose focus and instead of Disneyland, you may end up in Nebraska. Nebraska is okay but was not your Goal.
When you create an Internet Marketing Plan you never have to worry what task you have to do. The plan it self will outline the day’s event or week events or even monthly/yearly events.
Refer back to your Daily Marketing Plan (DMP) daily, and you will never run out of time to do the necessary things to make your business successful and gain the financial success your looking for.
Incorporate all of the 6 steps in your marketing plan. “Internet Marketing is a plan and Success comes with a plan.”
Internet marketing is simple. It’s helping people. If you have a business, find out what people are searching for. If they have a problem…help solve the problem. this can be in the way of a product or service. Wake up every day passionate about what you do, and go to bed every night satisfied with what you’ve done.
Regardless of whether your day includes helping one person, five or hundreds, if one person reconnects to the world around them, if you have given them back the opportunity to be the best they can be, then consider the day successful.
“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” Zig Ziglar
Internet marketing is ever changing. Internet Marketing is a plan and that Success comes with a plan. I’ve been in this industry for over 7 years, and in that time, the way social media, Internet and marketing has changed drastically.
When I talk to season pros who have been marketing online, they tell me that today’s Internet marketing is nothing like marketing was even 3-4 year ago. All of the pros will tell you to “Keep learning!”
The key to success is always be open to learning, or truly listening.
Listening has helped improve anything we want to accomplish. You can either adapt with change and revolutionize your business, or you can be left behind.
Do these tasks regularly, and you will see success in your Internet Marketing Business.
