How An Internet Business Is Built | Stay In The Game
I don’t know if you’ve heard this story about the Chinese Bamboo Tree before now but this is one of those lessons that really sticks with you. The Chinese Bamboo Tree teaches us success lessons on patience, growth & development and most surprising of all… human potential!
Chinese Bamboo
- First year – not even a sprout. More water.
- Second year – still no growth. More water.
- Third year – still nothing – More water.
- It can take up to 5 years for the tree to show up.
- Then in just 6 weeks it shoots up as high as 80 feet.
- The secret is in the root system, growing underground.
Did the Chinese Bamboo Tree lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth? Or, was the little tree growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond?
The answer is obvious. Had the tree not developed a strong unseen foundation it could not have sustained its life as it grew.
The same principle is true for people. People, who patiently toil towards worthwhile dreams and goals, building strong character while overcoming adversity and challenge, grow the strong internal foundation to handle success, while get-rich- quickers and lottery winners usually are unable to sustain unearned sudden wealth.
The growers of the Chinese Bamboo Tree have faith that if they keep watering and fertilizing the ground, the tree will break through. You must have the same kind of faith in your Bamboo Tree, whether it is to run a successful business, raise well-adjusted children, or what ever your dreams are.
You must have faith that if you keep honing your craft, keep learning, learn by your failures, belive in what your doing, I am confident that you too will see rapid growth in the future.
I see people who change jobs every year or so. I also see people who change organizations in the pursuit of greener pastures. More often than not, these people are greatly disappointed when their Chinese bamboo tree doesn’t grow any faster.
Sadly, what they fail to realize is that pursuing your dream is a sure thing if you just don’t give up.
So long as you keep watering and fertilizing your dream, it will come to true, just like the Chinese Bamboo Tree. It may take weeks. It may take months. It may even take years, but eventually, the roots will take hold and your Chinese Bamboo tree will grow. And when it does, it will grow in remarkable ways.
How does the Chinese Bamboo Tree relate to building a business? Well you can use the analogy to the Internet and a successful business.
The Internet Business Is Similar To The Chinese Bamboo Tree
- It takes time to build a root system (website/content/marketing strategy/SEO)
- Learn the rules of Internet marketing.
- Honing your craft.
- Build a solid foundation.
- Have faith in your dreams and goals.
- Be patience and keep working.
- Use all the tools available to you.
- Never ever quit.
It Takes Patience
- Oh yes, did I mention work? Yes I did.
- What about time? It take time to build a business.
- Do you need to commit your energy? Of course. A train uses a tremendous amount of energy just to move 1 foot. The tree took 5 years to grow.
- What about focus? Focus on your daily business activities and avoid the “Shinny Objects Syndrome”
- Time to learn. You are going to have to learn how to market using all the methods available.
- How about money? Try to build a business without spending money. Impossible!
- Do What Others Will Not Do!
- And again, Never Ever Quit!
The Internet is scattered with the bones of failed dreams, broken promises, unfulfilled ideas.
Of course, there is money to be made with the Internet. It requires more than promises. It takes more than hoping. It requires, Commitment, Dedication, Focus, Time and Energy.
Like the Chinese Bamboo Tree, it may take weeks, months, even years to build your business. But with constant (watering, faith) a business begins to emerge.
Does making money on the Internet sound like something you want?
Make up your mind to – “Do It.” Wrap your brain around a little investment, time, patience and quite a lot of hard work.

99.9% of your competitors will quit. Maybe not today or tomorrow but they will quit! My advice – Don’t Be A Quitter – Stay In The Game!
Just by Staying In The Game and keeping on creating new content (watering your tree) to your blog every week, you’ll beat almost everyone in this race.
Remember – 99.9% of your competitors will Quit.
Even successful people experience setbacks and drop out of the game.
Henry Ford had to water his Chinese Bamboo Tree through five business failures before he finally succeeded with the Ford Motor Company.
Thomas Edison, made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. He kept watering his Chinese Bamboo Tree until he was successful.
Have you ever felt like quitting? So has everyone else!
But if you want to get the results and win, don’t quit. Keep watering your Chinese Bamboo Tree and Stay In The Game.
What Does “Staying In The Game” Mean?
I mentioned that you’ll beat 99.9% of your competition just by Staying In The Game but what does it actually mean?
- First, it doesn’t mean that you just start something without knowing where and how to do it.
- Second, it doesn’t mean you Hope you will be successful.
- Third, it doesn’t mean that in your first failure, you give up and quit.
- Fourth, realize that every successful player has a coach or mentor helping with proper guidance and training.
- Fifth, It requires WORK.
I have seen so many people fall into the Get-Rich scream only to be burned. I have seen many who are “couch potatoes” hoping success will come to them unwilling to work.
And then there are those who will “TRY.” They will dip their toe in to feel the water. If too cold or too hot they back out. TRY without commitment is a recipe for failure.
Being a member of a highly respected company will definitely help you to make money online and build an online business, but your results will depend on the actions you take.
1. Staying In The Game means that…
You take consistent action by learning new skills and applying them day in and day out.
- Did you miss a day applying what you learned? Do it tomorrow with more commitment.
- Did you miss writing an article to your blog this week? Write two next week.
- Did you face a challenge that you couldn’t find a solution? Search Google/YouTube, and find answers from people who already have been there.
- Did you ask someone in the community or your coach for a solution?
- Did your Chinese Bamboo Tree fail to grow? Learn what should you do differently and try again until you get the results that you desire.
2. Staying In The Game means that…
You stay persistent! Achieve your goals no matter what happens.
Everyone faces some challenges. That’s just life.
Remember, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln. How many times did they fail only to Stay In The Game to success.
The next time when you face a challenge, tell yourself, “Everyone faces challenges. Some of my competitors will quit. I’m not a quitter – I can solve this challenge. I’m one step closer to reaching my goals.”
3. Staying In The Game means that…
You are always looking for ways to grow and develop.
Just like any game, staying at the same level is not growing and developing. Growing to the next level is Practicing to be better.
Why Is Practicing So Important?
Have you seen anyone who is at the top of their game – not practice?
I happen to like football. I have never seen anyone in professional football who does not practice ever day!
It’s really sad to see people taking a lot of action and then quit just when they were about to get the results.
People with a huge potential have quit just right before succeeding.
They learned new skills, applied the knowledge and did the work. But then they face a challenge and quit.
But think about it… Just a little bit more effort and you may have your big breakthrough!
What if Michael Jordan would have quit when he wasn’t accepted into the high school basketball team? Nobody would know about MJ and he would have never become one of the greatest players of all time.
What if you quit on your goals and dreams? You’ll never achieve them and the people that you were supposed to help will never hear from you.
On the other hand…
If you Stay In The Game… Think about once being able to tell your story. Feel the feeling that it gives. See yourself in the position that you’ve overcome and had incredible breakthroughs.
After all, all of your results will start from positive or negative thoughts in your mind. So, think positive thoughts that will help you to succeed.
Stay In The Game Means Never Ever Quit.
